You might as well quit reading right now if you expect to see a trip report related to boating. This time I went West.
I own some land out in the high desert and decided to go out there and check on things. By the time the sun came up I was miles west of San Antonio on IH-10. I will bet that you do not see this very often;at least legally.

The traffic density was about one vehicle every 10 miles and I had to put up with this for over 100 miles.
Damn fool finally had to get off for gas. Rest of the trip was great. After i finally got to the Big Bend area I saw the old homestead.
Just kidding this is just another abandon home. Actually this is my destination.
From out there it doesn't look to bad. But, from here it appears to be more of a challenge.
On my way up I found a small cave under this rock. All around this area was fresh scat and paw prints as large as the palm of my hand. Strong evidence of a rather large mountain lion. I didn't see the cat but I didn't poke a stick in the hole either.

I finally got to the top.

Every year that damn hill get higher I think; at least that is what my body is trying to tell me.

It sure a heck looks a lot further down than it did up.
On the way down I slipped and went A-over-tea kettle. Here is the by product of my one moment of distraction. I ripped the ass out of my pants.
Tore a large piece of meat about the size of quarter out of the palm of my right hand. Slammed the toe of my hiking boot into a rock so hard to stop my sudden decent that I will most probably lose this toenail.
In addition to all of this I slammed my arm into a cacti and had to pick over 40 needles out of the arm. A couple of them broke off under the skin and I will have to wait for them to decide to come out. Thank goodness that I didn't land on the cacti with my ass and have to have someone else pick them out. It could have been a lot worse because I was alone. But, I did have both my PLB and my Icon 91A and would have been able to call for assistance. Here are a couple of more views of the area.
Had a great weekend in spite of the problems.
